Koycegiz Area Guide

Koycegiz Area Guide

Koycegiz is a peacefully authentic Aegean town set on the banks of the Koycegiz Lake, from where it takes its name.
Lying just 37km from Dalaman airport, the area is growing in increasing popularity as a tourist destination owing to its proximity to the white sandy beaches of Iztuzu and Sarigerme and its great transport connections to the amenities and sites in the resort towns of Dalyan, Fethiye and Oludeniz.

With a handful of developments now beginning to be constructed, property in Koycegiz is the ideal choice for those seeking a holiday home in Turkey with the opportunity to reap further rewards through the local holiday lettings market. Summers are long and hot, with temperatures rising from mid-April, and winters are mild and slightly rainy from mid-November.

Due to its rare flora and fauna, much land in Koycegiz is protected meaning property development is finite offering ample opportunity for property values to steadily appreciate as demand grows. As an investment spot, it is an area certainly to consider in the medium term and local summer tourism numbers are demonstrating healthy growth each year.

Central Koycegiz

Koycegiz has retained much of its quiet charm as a town fed by its local agriculture rich in citrus fruits and olive groves.

Resting peacefully on the banks of Koycegiz Lake, it offers numerous delicious fish restaurants, tea houses and a regular market selling local handicrafts, an abundance of locally grown produce and the usual selection of bargain ‘not so genuine’ fakes.

Koycegiz thermal baths
Sailing boats and traditional wooden gullets cruise the Lake’s calm shores, home to a wealth of interesting sea and wildlife, and are set against a backdrop of tumbling pine-clad mountains. A handful of small bars provide the local nightlife.

A short 30km drive or boat ride south west of the town centre will bring you to the area’s famed natural mud baths and thermal springs at Sultaniye Kaplicalari where hours can be sent rejuvenating aching bones and detoxifying.

Koycegiz has a handful of spacious resale and new-build villas on offer and, with its relaxed and enchanting feel, is an excellent consideration for those seeking a restful permanent or holiday property in Turkey nestled in an authentic natural setting.
