Dalaman Area Guide

Dalaman Area Guide

Dalaman is situated on Turkey’s Aegean coast and is best known as home to the region’s modern international airport.
Serving as a gateway for holidaymakers visiting the nearby resorts of Sarigerme and Fethiye, and for local business commuters using the daily flight connection to Istanbul, it is a small and quiet town set amidst a serene landscape of sea and mountains.

With rare wildlife habitats and uncrowded beaches, a new soon to open championship golf course and superb transport links, the area presents good investment potential and is popular with those seeking a holiday home or retirement property in Turkey in a quiet setting famed for its nature and wildlife. Rental opportunities are abound with long hot summers stretching from late April to October.

Dalaman itself is classified as an area of natural beauty and is surrounded by marsh and agricultural land rich in citrus fruits. Strong investment is being put into the local economy and infrastructure by the Ministry of Tourism.

Central Dalaman

Dalaman centre offers a mixture of small contemporary shops and 'bargain' bazaars and café/restaurants along the main high street, ideal for whiling away a few hours before taking in the many places of historical interest at nearby Dalyan, Ephesus and Pamukkale or jumping on a river boat to explore the region's marshlands.

The area has witnessed great change in recent years, with large international hotel chains and luxury resorts, including the Hilton, establishing themselves nearby owing to its picturesque position, natural mud baths and thermal spas and excellent transport links.

Compared to nearby resorts at Fethiye and Antalya, Dalaman has not yet forged itself as a major tourism destination. However, current investment projects such as the new 18 hole championship golf course and marina planned by the Hilton hotel, indicate it is a property location with favourably maturing prospects.

Dalaman airport is now open year round, extending tourist flow through the region to destinations further afield such as Bodrum, Marmaris and Kas. Regular flights operate from the UK.
